I feel it’s about time to address something very important and very dangerous and unfortunately very real. Adventism is now distancing itself from Christianity-by drawing dramatically close to Islam.
In a recent article from Adventist World.Org Adventist’s claim that Islam shares five opinions with Adventism and that such an understanding means that Adventists are uniquely positioned to reach out and save Muslims. However the article itself seem more to be speaking of joining up with Muslims in their beliefs.
This is happening in the Christian world too and has a name Chrislam.
Let’s take a look at the commonalities between Adventism and Islam which the article states.
One: Belief in Jesus
Of course Adventist leaders make the assumption that the Jesus of Islam is the same as the Jesus of Adventism…that might be right. But the Jesus of Islam is not the same as the Jesus of Christianity. Islam teaches that the 12th Mahdi will return on the scene and Jesus will bow to him! While the Bible teaches that there will come a time when every knee shall bow to King Jesus!
That’s a huge discrepancy right there, so while yes Islam and Adventists do believe that at the very least someone is coming soon, they are not the same person…and I would argue if Adventism is claiming that the Jesus of Islam is the same as the Jesus of Christianity then Adventist is emphatically NOT Christian.
Two: Adventism is Uniquely Positioned to take “Chritianity” to Muslims
You’ll noticed I placed Christianity in quotations all you need to do is refer to point one to see why I chose to do that. The article breaks down the unique position as so:
A: The High Place of Scripture
The article claims that the Adventist view of the Holy Scriptures is inspired. That Adventists hold the scriptures as the first and most important document to which to go for understanding about God. They claim Sola Scriptura. Well as a former Adventist I know this is a bunch of bunk, their lens of reference always goes through either The Old Covenant Laws made for Israel and Ellen G. White their “Prophet” or one or the other. Not only that but they teach that there is fallibility in the people that wrote the Bible, that the Bible might be wrong because you know people wrote it and people can be wrong. This came from the huge issues they had with the now wide in the open fact that Ellen G. White COPIED practically entire books from other writers and claimed that what she had written came from divine messenger.
So in order to keep up appearances the accuracy and surety of the Bible is lowered to match the Fallible, copied writings of their “prophet”- such a lowering of the Bible disgusts me. Not only do they NOT use the Bible and the Bible alone, they claim that the writers of the Bible who had the words “God Breathed” to them made the same kind of fallible mistakes that Ellen. G. White did…and then in some cases they elevate her to the likes of the Biblical Prophets like Daniel.

- Comparing Ellen White to the Great Prophets of the Bible
In the Adventist World article (which I will link to at the bottom of the page) they state that this Adventist reliance on Sola Scriptura (please) impresses the Muslim’s who hold the Koran as God’s revelation.
I find it very interesting that the writer of the article leaves it at that and doesn’t flat out deny any revelation of the Christian God in the Koran at this point.
B: Lifestyle
Adventists go on to say that Muslim’s were pleasantly surprised at the fact that Adventists don’t eat Pork or drink much alcohol. Of course a great multitude of Adventists that I DO know do drink alcohol and eat pork, but I suppose Adventists in the article are looking at this from a historical perspective.
Because of this they say “This means that Adventists and Muslims can enjoy table fellowship without apprehension—an important factor in establishing basic relationships.” I’d also add that if they can have no apprehension with Muslims, then they share the same spirit, and the same Jesus and for Adventists especially this means that they are not Christian.
In the article it also mentions that their religious beliefs are a 24/7 thing, which IMHO is a load of crap, would we have worship and vespers…yes…would we study our Sabbath School lessons…sure; but really our religion was putting on a show and dance about how perfect our lives were when we showed up every Saturday to Church. And Adventism is still stuck on the DAY(“Happy Sabbath!”)the shadow rather that on the true Sabbath Rest of Jesus Christ (“We are called to boast in Christ and Christ crucified and that alone!”) Paraphrase of Paul in Galatians) (See point 4 as Well).
C: Concern with the Last Days
I think this could really be combined with the Second Coming things noted above and it’s really a cop out to place it here but since the authors of the article went back to it so will I.
Three things are mentioned: The Last Judgment, Second Coming of Jesus and the Resurrection.
I find it very interesting though not at all surprising that they mention the last Judgment here since Adventism teaches that believers will have to stand face to face with God on the Day of Judgment without a mediator ( the error of that teaching will make up a whole other post sometime): and conversely have no understanding at all of the Bema Seat of Christ which takes place after the Resurrected and Glorified believers have been caught up to be with the Lord and as promised gone with Him to the Father’s House. A straightforward reading of the Bible places the Last Judgment, after both the catching up of the church (Bride of Christ) and the Bema Seat Judgment- and yet Adventists are told that they will be at the Last Judgment- their end times chronology is all messed up.
Adventists Believe:
Actually looking at the tree topics I have to choose from I’m not sure what order they’d put them in. Because if they put Resurrection first which you’d have to, no wait…that’s Second Coming first then…Resurrection…I think followed by the Last Judgment. That can’t be right can it? No it’s Biblically unsound and reprehensible.
Christians believe: The Bible is clear. Christ comes for the Bride and calls them to Himself and takes them to His Fathers House where He went to prepare a place for them. We are glorified and then we enter the Bema Seat of Christ (The Bema Judgment) this is the believers only Judgment and it is a judgment of commendation not condemnation. This Judgment takes place in Heaven, your location is assured for you were sealed with the Holy Spirit when you first believed, this just judges the works you did After becoming born again. It determines whether you built on the foundation of God with works based towards the Kingdom or selfish works based on self-gratification. Those good works are like jewels and precious stones and the selfish like straw and dross, and the Holy Fire refines and burns away the dross and you are left with your rewards. There are also crowns you can recieve which we will toss at the feet of Jesus for only He is worthy of praise. Just like a Jewish Bride spent 7 days in the wedding banquet before being revealed to the community as a whole so the Bride of Christ will be in Heaven for 7 Years before revealed to the global Community at the Second Coming/Glorious Appearing.
Then will be the Judgment of the sheep and the goats, those who found Christ during the 7 Year Tribulation and those who never accepted Christ.
Now after that is the Millennium which is entirely missing from the Adventist list (though they will believe w/o Bible backing) that that Millennium will happen in Heaven. Of course the Bible teaches of the Millennium on Earth with Satan bound and thrown into the bottomless pit before hand.
After the Millennium then comes the Last Judgment…this is for unbelievers only.
7 When the 1,000 years are completed, Satan will be released from his prison
8 and will go out to deceive the nations at the four corners of the earth, Gog
and Magog, to gather them for battle. Their number is like the sand of the sea.
9 They came up over the surface of the earth and surrounded the encampment of
the saints, the beloved city. Then fire came down from heaven and consumed them.
10 The Devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where
the beast and the false prophet are, p and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
11 Then I saw a great white throne and One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence,
and no place was found for them.
12 I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.
Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works
by what was written in the books.
13 Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead; all were judged according to their works.
14 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
15 And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:7-15
You do NOT want to be a part of the Last Judgment period. The Good News is that if You have been Born of the Spirit/Born Again/Born from Heaven- ARE already part of the Bride of Christ- and you ALREADY HAVE eternal life!
In the article the Adventists note that they’re plenty of major differences between the Islamic and Adventist understanding of the End times…and I’ve clearly pointed out that the Adventist end times are greatly different from those of mainline Christianity.
D: The Sabbath
The Adventists love the fact that the Koran simply mentions the Sabbath (they don’t mention how) and makes no mention of Sunday being made a day of worship. (Note to my Adventist friends Our Sabbath rest is in Christ the person who is the Sabbath made full not in a day. We worship on Sunday because that’s what the Apostles did and the Jews who became Christians did also giving up THOUSANDS of years of Tradition…for the reality of true SABBATH REST IN CHRIST!) The Sabbath is still the seventh Day and still as originally intended for the Jews…not the Gentiles.
The article mentions their veneration of the Sabbath (it’s enshrined in our name)- and says that by keeping the Sabbath they are following divine revelation. Of course they fail to realize that they are making the exact same mistake as the Pharisees and Saducees and placing the day given by the creator- the shadow- over the creator Himself!
God the Holy Spirit through Paul says (paraphrased) “All that should matter is CHRIST and CHRIST CRUCIFIED!”
Rest is in the fulfillment of the shadow and not in the shadow itself.
E: Cosmic Conflict
The Muslims hold a idea of a battle between Good and Evil which has similarities along with the article admits significant differences with the Adventist Great Controversy worldview model.
Of course while the Bible speaks of a spiritual war between fallen angels and those loyal to Heaven, there never was much of a conflict, the battle was won at the cross. And there’s certainly no need for God to justify anything, or to be audited for His actions. He’s GOD, his actions can only be just and right. The Bible mentions NOTHING about all creation waiting for an audit to see if God was just in His gift of Salvation and fair in His commandments. He was and He is and He will always be.
No the only thing creation is waiting for is when the Kingdoms of Earth become the Kingdoms of our God and King Jesus Christ!
F: Creation
Muslims and Adventists believe in creation and not evolution, I think this might be the one point in which Christians can agree with Adventists and Muslims!
G: Health
Muslims share with Adventists a outlook of solidarity towards proper healthy living, which is oh so very important in the big picture of beliefs.
I’d rather have a Spirit that has been awakened from being dead in sin than a healthy heart.
H: Relation to Israel
The Adventist church is silent in regards to Israel they certainly do not support them, in fact they feel that they are Spiritual Israel. Of course this non-standing with Israel puts them in excellent standing with the Muslim leaders.
Now as Christians we KNOW that God still has a plan for Israel, and we know that Israel will last as a nation. In fact the Bible says that Jews will lead a massive revival during the Tribulation and them calling on Jesus Christ as their Messiah will both bring them back into a right relationship with Him but signal to Christ and the Bride in Heaven that it’s time to return to the earth in response and save Israel from the armies that are surrounding her at the end of the Tribulation period.
It is clear to me that anyone not siding with Israel is not siding with God.
I: A Reform Movement
Adventist leaders believe that their teaching is a return to the Bible when it is in fact a turning it’s back and closing it’s ear on a good majority of the New Testament (after all Paul is so hard to understand).
I’ll take the time to warn Adventist leaders that the Islamic world has no place for any religion outside it’s own whether Christian or claiming to be Christian and their idea of reformation is that everyone should be a Muslim.
A Few Final Thoughts
It saddens me to see Adventism so casually moving away from Christianity to cuddle up to Islam…however it does not surprise me at all. You see when the spirit behind the church is one of deception and half truths then you know that only one person could truly be behind that church. I shouldn’t have to spell it out but I will anyway, the spirit behind Islam and Adventism is the same, the person behind them is the same.
That person is Satan.
The Adventist Jesus and the Muslim Jesus are apparently the same. I’ve heard Adventist teachers claiming that the Adventist God and the Muslim God are the same. If they are they certainly are not the Christian Jesus and the Christian God.
Get out while you still can, give up the throne of your life to Christ. Realize that you are born dead in your sins (your eternal spirit is dead)and that Jesus is the ONLY WAY to be made alive again (only the Holy Spirit can revive your spirit, and only the Holy Spirit is the seal of God unto salvation). And then He, God the Holy Spirit will live in your body which is a living temple for God on earth, and will lead you in your studies into all truth.

- Is Seventh Day Adventist is a false religion (wiki.answers.com)
Hello All,
On the side of fairness and presenting a different perspective on this subject here are a couple of notes on this article:
- Nowhere in this article does it imply that Adventism is joining up with Islam. It states, “our mission demands—that we make efforts to understand people of other faiths, so that we may share with them our values and hope in the return of Jesus.”
The Bible states that a certain expert in the law asked Jesus a question, “..who is my neighbor?” Jesus answered (Luke 10:30-37) with the story of the good Samaritan. Samaritans were considered strangers and enemies to the Jews, but in this parable Jesus demonstrated that our neighbor does not mean merely one of the church or faith to which we belong. It has no reference to race, color, or class distinction. Our neighbor is everyone who needs our help. Every soul that is wounded and bruised by the adversary. Our neighbor is every one who is the property of God. Our Lord has commanded us to go into all the world preaching the good news (including Muslims).(Mark 16:15)
Belief in Jesus is not one of the nine points of commonality listed in the article but Glory to God if that can be used as one of the ways to open a dialogue with a Muslim. The scriptures say that “we all must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18) And, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Romans 10:13,14)Our Lord Jesus is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”(2Peter 3:9)
This article states that Adventists abstain from alcohol and pork. The fact that there are exceptions that the author knows of does not establish the rule. The Word states that, “Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise.” (Prov 20:1) And the stomach and digestive system of the Muslim is the same as the Christian as was the body of Christ. It was God that established what was edible and what was not (see Lev 11). In heaven no little piggies or animals will die. (Rev 21:4)
This article states that regarding the last days “Their teachings differ from ours in important respects,” but the center of attention is the Muslims belief that we are in the last days. What a wonderful opportunity to speak to a Muslim regarding the nearness of the coming of the Lord when as Paul stated, “we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thes 4:15-17)
The Sabbath was given at creation week to Adam and Eve. (Gen 2:1,2) Before any Jew was in existence and contrary to popular opinion before Sinai as well. Its the only day the Bible mentions as blessed and sanctified. (Gen 2:3) It is the day Biblically set aside as holy for worshiping the Lord, resting from all our labors, and holding special undivided communion with Christ-the Lord of that day. (Mark 2:28)
While the fate of the adversary was sealed at the cross- the war-the cosmic conflict rages on for the souls of men. The bible states that the devil is “as a roaring lion, walking about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8) The book of Daniel mentions that sometime after the ascension of Christ that the “court was seated, and the books were opened.” (Daniel 7:10) A heavenly record is kept. The redeemed will one day exclaim “just and true are thy ways-standing by the sea of glass, holding harps that God had given them and singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb:
Lord God Almighty,
how great and wonderful are your deeds!
King of the nations,
how right and true are your ways!
Who will not stand in awe of you, Lord?
Who will refuse to declare your greatness?
You alone are holy.
All the nations will come
and worship you,
because your just actions are seen by all. (Rev 15:3,4)
Galatians 3:19 states, “And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.” There has always been only two seeds. The woman’s seed and the serpents seed. The Messianic promise in Genesis 3:14 states that there would be “enmity” between those seeds but Christ would come and crush the head of Satan and he in turn would bruise the heel of God’s people. God’s people are spiritual Israelites. “Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.” (Galatians 3:7)
The prophet Isaiah states to those looking for truth in the last days to seek after their God, “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20) The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. What is truth? “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17) Jesus is the Word. (John 1:1-4) “With my whole heart I have sought you; Oh, let me not wander from your commandments! Your Word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sign against you.” (Psalms 119: 10-11)
In conclusion the Bible states that Satan and would be enraged against the seed of the woman “Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.” (Rev 12:17) The apostle-prophet John reveals that the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” (Rev 19:10) The Word does call his people to come out..come out of confusion. “I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of Babylon, my people, so that you do not participate in her sins and suffer from any of her plagues.(Rev 18:4). The Bible is clear that Satan is behind Babylon not to those who love the Lord, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
Who are the sons of God? What is the Spirit of Christ contrasted with Sprit of Satan? Let the Bible decide: 1 John 3 –God bless you all!
See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears[a] we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s[b] seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.
***By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.
There is a deeper and more troubling aspect to the article that you didn’t even address.
And to be honest I’m stunned.
Adventists say that Allah and the Christian God are the same thing! What say you to the fact that Adventist pastors the highest most influential Adventist pastors are teaching this from their pulpits.
That’s why I stated in my article that by taking a position of this magnitude that Adventists are proving all the more that they are not Christian.
This also brings into question if an Adventist is truly a Child of God, just because you are created by God does not make you His children. My friend if you were truly born of the Spirit you would be convicted right now of how dangerous and detrimental this kind of teaching is, and you certainly wouldn’t be accepting any Adventist preachers saying Allah and God are the same thing.
Yes Muslims believe Jesus exists, they believe He will come again, and that He our Lord and Savior will bow to the 12th Imam.
Do you agree with that also?

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN- ARAMAIC & ARABIC…..
FOLKS-PAY ATTENETION
Alaha- in Aramaic means Eloah-Elohim
allah-in Arabic-Islamic word-means curse
( Aramaic English New Testament- Andrew Gabriel Roth)
Due to the dialectical issues, “Eloah” gets a slightly different spelling and pronunciation in Aramaic, via “Alaha”. This word is mearely the Aramaic cognate of “Eloah” the Hebrew singular form for Elohim”.
Essentially, everywhere the English says “Elohim”, the reader should be aware that Aramaic reads “Eloah”. Eloah has little to do with the Islamic word “Allah” which simply follows Arabic convention of the dropping final “ahs” from Aramic words. That is why, for example the word “nohra (light, flame ) in Aramaic turns into “nohr” in Arabic.
Since the Arabic language evolve centuries later, it cannot be used as anything probative in the origins of this usage. Rather, the best solution is to link Alaha exclusively to the Hebrew cognate Eloah, which can be established as being at least 2,000 years old and can be traced to Babylonian Jews who would later compile the Talmud. How this word shifted slightly in appearance and sound is therefore more understandable from the Hebrew-Aramaic chain of transmission that from Aramaic to Arabic.
You are only going to see this in the ‘HEBREW” but with SDA’s rejecting ISRAEL they have played into the biggest lie>
