So Adventists are Delaying an Imminent Event?

I ran across a quote from Ellen G. White today from the book Christ’s Object Lessons I’ll quote it now and then we’ll discuss it and compare it to what scripture teaches.

‘Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church.  When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own.’

As usual with quotes from Ellen it sounds holy and quite wonderful, I’m certain that if I were reading this before I was born again I would heartily agree with this statement.

(This section is written from a true Adventist perspective)

After all as an Adventist Jesus and I are alike. We are both body+breath=living soul. He could have lied, and to be honest I constantly lie. Yet He perfectly kept the Law, so that proves that I can perfectly keep the Law, as long as I truly follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit as it directs my life from the outside. And I HAVE to be able to PERFECTLY keep the Law under my own power because eventually I will have to stand without a Mediator. And not only that Christ’s character MUST be perfectly reproduced by not only me but everyone in THE CHURCH, it has to be possible because only then will He come to claim us as His own and take us to Heaven.

Back to reality.

To my Adventist friends if you are reading that and nodding enthusiastically then it may come as a shock to you that the paragraph below…and Ellen White’s quote…are entirely without Biblical Support.

Let’s break all this false teaching down.

Jesus and I are NOT Alike (Until We’re Born Again)

Jesus was born of the seed of woman and the Holy Spirit. He was born with an eternal Spirit (not simply filled with breath) that was born ALIVE. Since Jesus is God in man He could NOT sin. Period. In turn this means that He could not lie, or say use a parable to teach about conscious torment in hell, unless there was conscious torment in Hell. While on this earth Jesus did the work the Father asked Him to do, so every thought, word, and action was brought about through the will of the Father. Jesus could not do any work that was not good, Jesus couldn’t make any comment, or speak anything that wasn’t truth. Truth is Jesus and Jesus is Truth.

On the other hand, we’re born of earthly parents and therefore are born in a sin state having inherited the original sin in the garden of Eden. (Our sin is not genetic as Adventism teaches). We are born with an eternal Spirit (not simply filled with breath), but our Spirit is aligned to Satan and we are born Dead in the Domain of Darkness- buried in our sins. We can’t help but sin because we are aligned to it, it is our natural original state. We are selfish, full of ourselves, and our will and our wants are most important, everything we do is run through the lens of “It’s all about me…how does this help me”. All our good works are to be literal like – torn and dirty rags stained with menstrual blood to the Lord. Since we are born aligned with the Devil, our talk is evil, our thoughts are evil, and what we do is evil- if that’s too strong for you I’m sorry…how about this. Lies is Mankind and Mankind is lies.

It is only when we are Drawn by God to Christ and repent of our sins that we are Born from Heaven- Born Again. The Holy Spirit comes INSIDE US and HE not it…seals us and fills us. Not only that but He brings our Spirit into alignment with God’s Spirit. God truly does live in the Christian. However He can only do that if you have a true understanding of the Holy Spirit and the Eternal Spirit that is placed in each and every person at conception.

The image of God isn’t a physical likeness, because God is SPIRIT not physical, the image of God is the Eternal Spirit He puts in each and everyone of us. Aligned with Satan…and then when Born from Heaven…Aligned to the Father in Heaven.

Jesus Could NOT Have Lied/Sinned/Used False Teachings…We On the Other Hand However.

Jesus is God. Since Jesus is God it was impossible for Him to Lie, Sin, Use False Teachings or do any other thing that God would not do.

We of course (before being Born again) would not only fall for false teachings, but also use them on others. Since we have a sin nature we still lie and sin long after we’re Born again, for more information on that check out Romans 7.

Once again we are wholly unlike Jesus unless we are Born Again.

Jesus: Kept the Law

We (If unsaved): Break the Law by saying we keep it.

Jesus: Lived a life under the Law to redeem us from the Law. The Holy Spirit through Paul states that the Law was a counselor until Christ, Christ fulfilled the Law- Christ is the Sabbath- Christ is our Eternal Rest- when we are Born from Heaven we enter the Rest promised in Hebrews 4.

We now have the Law of the Spirit written on our minds and in our hearts. Our Spirits are aligned to our Heavenly Father, through God the Holy Spirit living in us we are sealed by God for eternity. We HAVE, the moment we’re Born from Heaven, eternal life. Every Christian is living an eternal life right now, when God loosens my Earthly Tent I will take my first Heavenly breath before the throne period.

Oh here’s bit of wonderful news for you when you are Born Again you go instantly from the Domain of Darkness (where you were born dead in your sins) to the Kingdom of God’s Eternal Son (where you are now adopted into a Heavenly family and your inheritance is kept safe for you by GOD). See Colossians 1.

Salvation is secure.

Salvation is done.

Salvation is finished.

ON THE CROSS.

The is no investigation going on in Heaven to see if you’re worthy of Salvation- (none of us are) they’re not keeping track of sins to place them back on you if you forget to confess them (they’ve been cast away as far as the east is from the west). Salvation is not a revolving door, it’s not a jack in the box, it’s not the Hokey-Pokey.

Once you’re Born from Heaven you are IN.

No probationary period.

From Death to Life.

Sealed by the Holy Spirit unto Heaven.

But What about That Quote

Oh yes that quote, I think it doesn’t hold water, I think that is obvious. If you are still clinging to that quote for dear life you are clinging to the wrong thing.  You should be clinging to the Cross, repenting of your sins (I remember being so full of pride as an Adventist- and it sickens me now to think about it), and being Born of Heaven.

We are NEVER without a mediator.

God does not need vindication.

God simply wants Reconciliation.

He wants a personal Relationship with you…not your pious religiosity.

In Conclusion

Christ coming for His Church is Imminent. Always.

No one can delay it, and if perfection by every member of every Adventist church was a requirement, then Christ would NEVER come.

The real question is whether you’ll be ready to go when He calls, that’s entirely up to you.
