Dear Adventist Friends, Why the Fear of Dying?

Afraid to Die?

Being that I am friends with a great many former Adventists and have plenty of Adventist connections I often hear of Adventist friends of someone or another that need prayer for healing. Or in some cases an Adventist friend has been diagnosed with some kind of terminal illness, they don’t have much time left on this earth. This should be a time of anticipation, a time of confirmation, at time of final preparations for those who are going to be affected by your absence, it should be a time of joy because soon God is going to call your home to be with Him.

However more often than not the primary reaction of Adventists when they relay these messages to me is that their loved on is AFRAID of dying, they are beside themselves in fear and trepidation. Which is the total opposite of what a true believer, a Christ-Follower, feels as their life is coming to a close. Certainly there is some awe, perhaps a feeling of butterflies in the tummy, after all after you die you will be facing God- the creator of all things. However as a Christ-Follower you have chosen the path that leads through the Cross at Golgotha, you have been Born from Heaven by Grace through Faith and sealed by the Holy Spirit. You are a Christian.

Midnight Musings Special Edition: NOW! by Merikay McLeod

In a very special very extended edition of Midnight Musings I take a look at the Adventist Pamphlet really a novella written by Merikay McLeod when she was 17 years old called NOW!

This document tells of the Time of Trouble from a distinctly Adventist perspective and I felt since I was loaned a copy that I would read it and comment on it’s accurateness (if there were any) and their inaccuracies (since there are plenty.

I have uploaded the first of FOUR videos and the rest will be up tomorrow (hopefully) I will add the appropriate links as the videos are uploaded.

These videos were basically an expansion on the following TEN PAGE document (I’m sure there are spelling errors in the document but I’ve weeded out the vast majority): NowNotes

I hope you find the following video(s) and document helpful in discerning Bible truth.

God Bless and as always trust all of your Study to God the Holy Spirit and Him Alone.

Midnight Musings Ep. 2: Putting On Christ

What does it mean to “Put On Christ” and why is it absolutely essential and an unavoidable part of the Salvation process?

Why isn’t it enough to simply acknowledge Jesus Christ?

Why isn’t it enough for a Race Car Driver to simply acknowledge his Nomex suit?

Find out here:

I hope this brings a deeper understanding of Salvation, next time we’ll talk more about being Born of the Spirit and how the Bible teaches the essential truth of the Human Spirit- and why a false understanding of the Human Spirit and the Holy Spirit can lead to deeply erroneous understandings of the Bible- and much twisting of scripture.

Midnight Musings: What About Soul Sleep

After many years of Bible study with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and with a new digital camera I will be tackling issues  from my past beliefs and other Biblical topics with Midnight Musings.

In this first episode I take a look at the Adventist Doctrine of ‘Soul Sleep”.

Is it Biblical or does the Bible flatly refute it?

Feel free to comment on my findings below and suggest new topics.
