Apologetics In a Moment: The Investigative Judgement

So is the Investigative Judgement Biblical Truth or something else entirely?

What do you think now?

If it’s something else entirely what should you do with it?

Should you continue to believe in it and those who teach it?

Please watch it in HD and pause the video to look up all Bible texts quoted especially in the credits.

What you do with this knowledge is up to you.

  1. Ross: what about the first part of 1 John 5 that says if we love him we will keep his commanments his commanments are not a burden. I know Chist did his atonement at the cross but are you saying that once we are saved Christ will contiue to mediate our sins even if we continue in our sins. It sounds like you are saying we are instanly transformed once we accept Christ and are baptised, Even if we continue to do a certain sinas long as we keep asking for forgivness. I think continous rejection of the Holy Spirit will cause the Holy spirit to have less of an influence on us. This once saved always saved stuff is nonsensical to me. As is the belief that that somehow if we just all the commandmentd except for the 4th commanment that somehow Christ says if you love me keep my commandments. In Matt 5:10 it says “until heaven and earth pass not the smallest letter or a stroke of the pen will diappear frpm the law until all is accomplished and furthermore anyone who breaks one of these commanments or teaches others to break them will be called least in the kingdom of heaven . Whoever teaches and practices these commanments will be called great in the kindom of heaven. In summary Ross it dosent sound to me like christ came down abolish the law he came down to show us it was possible to live a sinless life and to show us that through the holy spirit it is possible to live a sinless life but he clearly says that he comes fulfill the law or show us that the way Isreal had been keeping the “Letter of the law” wasant the way God intended us to keep all the little rules and rituals that the pharises practiced. I think that in Matt 5 he clearly dosent do away with any of the commanments or law of the prophets which i think is derived from the ten commanments. besieds if you break one of the ten commanments contiounsly it will make it easier in turn to start to break all of them.

    • Brian,

The word Commandments in 1st John Five is the word entole for Teachings…not Nomos (like the word used for The Law) which means nomenclature.

Let me ask you a question in response, a couple actually.

1: How can a Christian be under the Old Testament Law when we fulfilled that Law when we were Born Again and rested In Christ? The Law of the Spirit is not the same as the Old Testament Law. Just like the Old Covenant is Obsolete to the Christian who is under the New Covenant.

2: If Once saved always saved is ludicrous to you then you seem to be calling God a liar for He states the following:

24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and asked, “How long are You going to keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”
25 “I did tell you and you don’t believe,” Jesus answered them. “The works that I do in My Father’s name testify about Me.
26 But you don’t believe because you are not My sheep.
27 My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish— ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
30 The Father and I are one.

And in 1 John 5 we are told unequivocally:

11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.
12 The one who has the Son has life. The one who doesn’t have the Son of God does not have life.
13 I have written these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

The Believer is sealed and Indwelt by God the Holy Spirit the moment of salvation, we are instantly transformed.

Colossians Chapter One states the following:

13 He has rescued us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son He loves.

I was born in the domain of darkness as were you, all humans are, it’s a matter of being Born of Heaven and being transferred out of the domain and into the Kingdom of God.

Once again, the Law which was a curse…is not the Law of the Spirit…and the Christian is under the Law of the Spirit not the burdensome Law of the Old Testament.

Christ fulfilled the Law for us, once we enter God’s Rest, we are seen by the Father as if we were Christ Jesus.

      In Christ,

      Ross

    • Indeed!

      Merry Christmas!

And remember that Christ was Born to Lay down His life and take it up again…so He could bring many brothers and sisters into the Family of God.

      In Christ,

      Ross
