A Fair Fight between Christ and Satan?

When Christian art goes horribly wrong.

What's wrong with this picture? A LOT.

I’m sure the vast majority of people who’ve visited this blog have seen this picture in some shape or form. It’s certainly a striking concept, it’s well done artistically and in that case it has merit. However what it depicts is a gross distortion of scripture, the Word of God is quite imperative, Satan was defeated on the cross this is not an even battle.

Jesus is God and Satan is a Created Being

The first thing that is so very wrong about this artwork is that it puts Jesus who is God at the same level of strength as Satan who is a created being. Remember all of creation came through the Voice of The Father, God the Son, the Word, Jesus Christ. Therefore Jesus Christ is in a position of superiority over Satan simply because He is God and His very utterance brought Lucifer, who fell from Grace and became Satan, into existence.

To continue on that point just giving Satan large muscles and a frightful sneer isn’t enough to tip the scales a created being is always less powerful that the one who created it.

Take into the equation that Satan was soundly defeated when Jesus- The God Man- was at His weakest. When He was hanging on the Cross and had become sin for us so much so that the Father could not look upon the Son “although it pleased Him to bruise Him.” Christ was still more powerful in His death than Satan has been in his entire life!

Why is it that so many false religions inflate the power of Satan to such ridiculous proportions? Logic would dictate that those religions that do elevate Satan’s status so much are in fact under his control. And the frightening thing is that on the surface these false religions under his control look- on the surface at least- very similar to Christianity. In fact those not grounded in the Word of God can easily be deceived right into a false religion simply because it looks so right, and sounds so legit- even if it’s way off base.

A major problem of false religion is the fact that they look and sound so legitimate that it isn’t until you take the time to look into their claims and underlying principles that you realize that there are problems in the first place.

In Conclusion

Satan may not fight fair- in fact he does not fight fair but the reason for this isn’t because he’s a dirty fighter (even though he is) but because he’s already lost the fight. Any religion that delves into making more of Satan than he really is, and glorifying him with greater power than he ever has had is a great danger. The writings of Ellen G. White when they (often) focus more on the forces of darkness bestowing them with much greater power than they have in reality- should be a warning sign to all to beware.

There is no fair fight. Christ is God…and He defeated the forces of evil on the Cross of Calvary to posit that the force of both parties is even close to being equal is false advertising. There is no tug of war or arm wrestling match simply because there’s no contest.

God is already the Victor through Christ!

  2. If the victory over Satan is copmletely over, then what is God waiting for?

Why is He terrorizing so many humans the world over?

This article is baloney. It makes absolutely NO sense. There is still a battle raging between Christ and Satan. Read the Bible, and it is plain. All of Christ’s enemies will not be placed under his feet according to 1 Cor 15:25. There is still sin and misery in this world.

This battle is not over until there are a people that perfectly reflect His character, and this is how Christ will prove the Devil wrong–as the Devil accuses us night and day that we can’t become like Christ. But when there are a people in the last days that make up their mind to overcome every defect of character, Christ will be vindicated, and Satan will be defeated.

This is the only reason to believe in Christianity. It is a message filled with so much hope! 🙂

    • Marcos,

thanks for your spirited response but the Bible itself makes thing clear- Christ triumphed over Satan and the Powers and Dominions of Darkness on the Cross. It was when Darkness thought it had triumphed that it suffered its final defeat. Now of course until Christ returns at the end of the 7 Year tribulation in Glory with His Bride on white horses in his wake yes Sin will still be around, evil will still be around until that time. However that doesn’t mean that the battle has not already been won. Ever since the Cross there has never been a chance for Satan to be victorious…in fact to be entirely honest as a Christian we should honestly say since Lucifer was first created- and fell out of Grace through Pride and became known as Satan…there has never been a chance for his victory. As a created being he could never hope to be victorious over God.

Do you know how many people will ever perfectly reflect the character of Christ on this earth? I’ll give you a hint it’s less than one. Not a single person will stand perfect before the Lord. And no one could ever attain the perfection needed to stand before God without a mediator (as Adventism teaches with Zero biblical backing)- because the moment anyone is sill enough to think that they have no sin…then they have committed a sin.

The fact of the matter is that no one will be perfect until they HAVE BEEN perfected when they stand before the Bema Seat at the Judgment of the Believers Works in Heaven (where Believers are rewarded on the Fruits of their Christian Labor). Right now as a Christian I am seen by the father as if I wam wearing or covered by the Son. God the Father sees me as Righteous through the Blood of the New Covenant spilled on the Cross when my Lord and savior was crucified.

      As a Christian:

      Am I sinless- NEVER!
Am I seen AS sinless- ALWAYS!

Because the Father sees me through the Son.

On the Cross Jesus (The God Man) took ALL SIN Upon Himself and took the WRATH of the FATHER mean for us on Himself- if we accept that sacrifice and are Born Again- We are COVERED BY His Righteousness FOREVER. However if we aren’t Born Again- then “the Wrath of God abides on us.”

Christ is God and He doesn’t have to prove the Devil wrong about anything, the Devil proves himself wrong all the time.

Throughout your response you have elevated Satan and degraded Christ. People in the last days are if you hadn’t noticed are abandoning God. Many so called Christians are listening to teachers preaching what they want to hear regardless of whether it is the truth. In fact the word Christian has been so diluted and ruined by people on all fronts of false religion, new religious movements, cults and sistorters of the truth that many actual Christians don’t even use the term anymore to describe themselves.

The only to become like Christ is to Surrender to His Salvation through the Cross and be Born Again (Born from Heaven)- it’s not something we do…we can’t Born Again ourselves only God can give us Spiritual Rebirth and only then can we be like Christ.

For God the Holy Spirit Fills us and Seals us the very moment we are Born Again. And we are like Christ because God sees us as if we were wearing Christ.

The Bible is very clear you must be Born of Heaven (Born Again) Born of God Born of the Spirit Born From Above (All the same term) if you ever want to see the Kingdom of God.

3 Jesus replied, “I assure you: Unless someone is born again,[a] he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

      a. John 3:3 The same Gk word can mean again or from above (also in v. 7).

And (once again) the ONLY way to be Born Again is through the Cross of Christ.

      God Bless.

    • While spelling is undeniably important correct Biblical understanding is more important. So if I do have spelling errors then that ends up happening especially since I have no y key. However the main goal of this blog is to present the truth of Scripture without any Adventist Goggles on.

Thanks for reading and I hope the odd missed letters don’t turn you off reading the blog. And seeking the Truth.
